As a way to promote Scouting and the 100th Anniversary of Theodore Roosevelt Council during 2017, we are looking to set up displays at all elementary schools throughout Nassau County.  To accomplish this, we are looking for District Membership teams and Commissioner staffs to coordinate with local Boy Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs, to ensure coverage at all elementary schools.

What: Static or active displays.  Displays might be indoors or outdoors, and will depend upon space approved by local school and availability from local unit.  Displays might include things such as:

• Model campsite – tents, simulated campfire, backpack, stove (unlit), etc.

• Scouting equipment – modern gear or “antique” personal gear.

• Murals or drawings

• Historical items – pictures, handbooks,

All displays should include (i) promotional information about                   the cent-o-ree, and (ii) information about joining the local Cub Pack and Scout Troop (depending on age).  Council will provide a template for use across the Council.

Where:  Either outdoors or indoors at each school, in a prominent location.

When: March / April 2017.  Depending on permission and support, a display might only be for one day or might remain in place for multiple weeks.

Implementation:  Council will seek to contact all school administrators throughout the county, to inform them of the proposed program.  Follow-up will then come from Membership teams, Commissioner staffs and local units to confirm at each school and finalize plans.
